Naomi Pierce began her work with The Skanner News Group in 1996 after migrating from twenty-years of life in the Big Sky Country (See the movie Nebraska for more info) where she earned a Masters in Education at Montana State University. Originally from Southern California, she saw in Portland a gentle mix of the urban and the rural reflecting her past experiences living in Los Angeles and Billings, Montana.

In 2006 she became the administrator of the North Portland Multimedia Training Center (NPMTC), an educational project of The Skanner Foundation.

NPMTC provides digital video production training to the African American community in North Portland and connects community members to additional ways of presenting authentic voices and positive visibility while learning multimedia technology. NPMTC welcomes your visit to our website.
