Fundraiser for Athlete Who Was Assaulted

Seattle Parks and Recreation's Magnolia Community Center and Advisory Council will hold a community barbecue to support Hannah Geiger, a 19-year-old Magnolia resident and Special Olympian, who was brutally attacked and beaten last week as she was walking to the community center.

The barbecue will take place at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17 at the community center, 2440 34^th Ave. W.

Hannah, whose mother adopted her as an infant in Haiti, just the day before had won a silver medal at the Special Olympics. She has won a total of 16 medals at the event for the standing broad jump and 50 and 100 meter races.

Hannah describes her assailants as blond White men in their teens or 20s. The attack took place at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, June 1. Anyone with information about the crime should call 9-1-1.
